1. Use depth charge to change monitors control panel to 256 colors to optimize PowerPC performance for SoftWindows
• Use depth gauge to change to 8 bit for best performance - Very IMPT here! •
DEMO:
0.) Show PC Exchange, a standard feature of PowerPC Macs of compatiblity! (Optional if you think that this is stupid!)
1.) Click on SoftWindows Icon. While it is launching into DOS, describe it’s features, including built-in support for Novell’s Netware IPX networking, and optional support for TCP/IP connections from DOS & Windows applications
2.) At DOS prompt type “WIN” and hit “Return” to launch Windows.
3.) After you are at the desktop, Show menu redraw performance - quite useable, even on this slowest of PowerPC models.
4.) Launch Solitaire, the most popular Windows application, noting the dealing speed. (But don't compare this to the Pentium! Yikes!)
5.) Launch Visual Basic, showing how even lots of locally developed IBM PC Basic applications can be run or even developed on SoftWindows. Also note that the majority of DOS & WIndows programs will run on SoftWindows without modification
6.) Once in Visual Basic, here's how you can load a demo file - under the Visual Basic "File" menu, select "Open Project"
7.) In the current selection window, double click the folder icon labeled "graphics" which appears in the middle of the screen.
8.) Select the file "blanker.mak" and press "OK"
9.) Under the new "BLanker.MAK" menu bar on the right of the screen, press the "view code" button. This is some text you can now copy under Visual Basic
10.) First, select the text with the mouse, then use the Edit Menu, and Copy command to copy it to the clipboard. You can now go back to the Mac Finder while SoftWindows is still running, and go the the Scrapbook, and paste this text from Windows into it! Wow!
